Before & After
She’s a Teacher. He’s an engineer. She’s a thinker. He’s a doer. As newlyweds with a dog, this couple needed to find a way to create a home that honored and merged their unique identities. The couple loved to host friends and family and needed their home to have plenty of space for entertaining. Moreover, they needed a space that could survive the wear and tear of their dog. Most of all, they wanted a space that reflected their fun personalities.

Problems to Address
The house started as a standard, blank space in many ways – light gray colors and builder-grade finishes throughout the living spaces. There were many awkward layouts in the house. Although they loved to host, when they had people over, it was unclear where they host guests in their home in such small awkward spaces. It was difficult to find a good layout for the den, where to put the tv with space to lounge.

Final Design
The final design used a lot paint to create color, drama, and focal points. With a beautiful green backsplash, freshly painted cabinets, and brass hardware, the kitchen now has playful focal point and feels brighter and larger. We added lots of what the loved, especially extra seating with the console table and stools behind the couch. The couple loved plants, color, and texture. By painting the living room wall black with accent shelves, the beautiful fireplace now pops and makes a dramatic statement. The den used dark colors to create a moody, cozy lounge space with deep green and black ceilings. This bland awkward house is now an open moody entertainment dream where is owners’ personalities can really shine.
